groove." The sideman on hits by James Taylor, Carole King, Jackson Browne,
and Linda Ronstadt is also active as a producer,

“Crosby, Stills & Nash: The
Definitive Inside Story of the Supergroup” by Dave Zimmer &
Henry Diltz, with pictures from the Mighty Jitters’
era and many nice comments by Danny Kortchmar.
Kootch: “… Those
tours cooked, man. That was the first band I was in where I was actually
encouraged to turn up. I remember being on stage and Crosby
walked over to me and said, ‘Play louder!’. No one had
ever told me that before. I loved it..”. “…When I got
there everybody was going insane… I had a Les Paul Standard, set up in D
tuning. So I just started foolin’ around, moanin’. ‘Can’t get no booty!’. It
was hilarious. I was really tryin’ to cheer those
guys up, ‘cause they were at each others’ throats. So I went, ‘Here’s this
song.’ And started playin’ it.
Stephen goes, ‘That’s great!’. And we sort of worked it out together. I don’t know
whether I’d wanted ‘Can’t Get No Booty’ carved on my tombstone, but it’s a
great dance record”.
“Shakey: Neil Young's

“To The Limit: The Untold Story Of The Eagles”
by Marc Eliot 1998, excerpts with the kind permission of the author.
The book is unauthorized and contains
some inaccuracies. According to
eaglesfans.com, it is one “controversial bio of the band. It focuses heavily on
interviews with Henley and many other key players in the Eagles story. Henley hates it.” Some pages are dedicated to the Henley-Kortchmar collaboration.
Rock
Lives by Timothy White: Interviews with stars. Another
interesting book about the Henley-Kortchmar
collaboration. Includes the interview with Don Henley
and Danny Kortchmar that is also featured on Mr.
White's radio special.
Some references are also:
“Bag of Bones: a Novel” by Stephen King.
It contains a reference to All She
Wants to Do is Dance, the song performed by Don Henley in “Building the Perfect
Beast” 1985, written by Danny Kortchmar.
“All She
Wants to do is Dance,"
comes on the radio during a picnic, and Mike thinks, "I was
okay until she danced.. after that I was lost."
"Oh God, I love this one, Mattie cried. The Frisbee came to her. She
caught it, dropped it, stepped on it as if it were a hot red spot falling on a
nightclub stage, and began to shake. She put her hands first behind her neck
and then on her hips and then behind her back. She danced standing with the
toes of her sneakers on the Frisbee. She danced without moving. She danced as
they say in that song -- like a wave on the ocean."
“Gateways” by F. Paul
Wilson, Hardcover Edition, on page 45.
“…The Tuner
stopped on a dance station. Jack didn’t dance, the beat was monotonous, and
he’d arrived in the middle of a woman doing a doubletime
version of “Boys of Summer.”. He bailed when a cheesy
organ attempted to duplicate Kootch Kortchmar’s riffs from the original. What had Don Henley
ever done to deserve that?...”
